Getting into those Tankini Swimming Suits – Weight Loss Tip #1
It’s summer time again and that means swimsuit season is upon us. Tankinis are great for masking the areas of our body most challenging to us, shape-wize. This is great, but what if we do want to get in shape for the season?
The first tip for weight loss is finding the solution that works best for you. None of us are alike in temperament, tolerance, willpower or food preferences.
How do I choose the weight loss diet that’s right for me, you may ask?
When it comes to your body’s health, you simply can’t be too careful. Overweight creates an environment ripe for disease and chronic problems that only get worse with time. It’s important enough to work through the diets that you and your physician think may be right for you until you find the one that actually helps you get fit… and stay that way.
Any weight loss diet that relies on a particular type of food is, by definition, not a balanced diet, and therefore potentially unsound. (One could point to the popular “Cabbage Soup Diet” in this category.)
Those diets that encourage ingesting saturated and trans fats are likewise suspect, as are those that cut out food groups entirely (such as grains and fruit).
Weight loss diets that are obviously not designed to be followed a lifetime are usually minimally helpful at best, depending, as they do, on the boring repetition of the same foods week after week.
Here are a few very popular weight loss diet plans. The reason they became widely popular is simple. They worked for a lot of people. No one really knows, however, how much success was due to a placebo effect, nor what the long-term side effects might be. Side effects are important to consider. You may want to get into those swimsuit tankinis badly; but, best to buy a size that hides the flaws while working on them through a healthy plan.
The Cabbage Soup Diet — This diet is considered the epitome of “fad diets,” but a high percentage of people who went on it claim it worked very well. In fact, it has been used on heart patients a week before surgery. Vegetables, whole grain, fruit and the ubiquitous Cabbage Soup (eat as much as you want, any time you want) comprise the plan. Not the most flavorful choice, to be sure.
The Atkins Diet — This diet has been embraced by millions around the world. Part of the reason is the practitioner gets to eat a lot! Though the foods allowed on Atkins are strictly limited and fairly expensive, the diet has shown remarkable results. It’s based on an almost complete exclusion of carbohydrates, no sugar at all, and high proteins. There are drawbacks to this plan and it should be studied (and discussed with your physician) before pursuing.
The Three-day Diet — Another fad diet (fad should be synonymous with avoid), this plan calls for drinking lots of water and eating very sparsely for three days. The water is a great step, but starving yourself is not. The hook is the ice cream allowed at night – does that make sense?
The Grapefruit Diet — A weird fad diet that relies on the chemistry of grapefruit juice, plus other unlikely indigestible foods that the dieter is ordered not to skip, (such as bacon). The attractive thing about this diet is you are to eat three meals a day until you’re stuffed! But, grapefruits are not everyone’s favorite so this is hard to take.
Diets that emphasize fresh fruits and vegetables, along with the sensible intake of whole grains, the use of low-fat dairy products and the reduction or elimination of sugar are widely considered the best, the sanest and the longest-lived diet plans. Finding a healthy way of eating (versus a ‘diet’) is the best approach.
Choosing a weight loss diet that actually works for your unique body is naturally the ultimate goal, but that can be easier said than done. There is almost always a fair amount of trial, error and sometimes frustration involved in discovering what you like and what likes your body. As with everything else in this life, persistence is the key to success.
Reputable weight loss firms, such as Fast Track to Fat Loss, advise a balance of protein, carbs, and yes, fat (the healthy kind) as the road to your ideal weight. The addition of a sensible, moderate exercise program–one you enjoy and will stick with for a lifetime–will greatly enhance your chances for attaining the perfect weight for optimal health and beauty.
Finding the path to a healthy, in-shape body that is best for us is a journey we all travel throughout our lives. The paths may be different, but the goal is the same – healthy bodies…and looking oh-so-fine in that 1 piece bathing suit or those takini swimsuits.
