Getting Into Those Tankini Bathing Suits for Women this Summer Starts with Proper Skin Care

Begins with proper skin care? You betcha!  If you’re heading out to a beach vacation or a weekend by the lake, better get ready for plenty of sunshine…that’s the point, right?  Before putting on that plus tankini, spend some time getting your skin ready.
At least 30 minutes before heading out to your favorite beach or lake, apply sunscreen – don’t wait until the last minute.  This gives it time to be absorbed into the skin before you jump in for a swim. Most folks tend to only apply 25-50% of the amount they should so don’t be afraid to lay it on thick.

Which sunscreen is best?  SPF (sun protection factor) of 30 will work well if you’re out in the sun for extended period of time – experts say that anything over than 50 has no assurance of additional protection.

You might want to consider avoiding sunscreen that includes Vitamin A.  There is some preliminary FDA data available that indicates retinyl palmitate (form of Vitamin A) may speed up development of tumors and lesions.

Don’t forget sunscreen is not waterproof or sweatproof so it needs to be reapplied after you spend time in the water.  If you’re staying out of the water – still reapply it every 30 minutes or so.

If you are using insect repellant also, then use a higher SPF because insect repellant can reduce the strength of your sunscreen by one third. Did you know that?

Guys, even if the day is cloudy, still use your sunscreen.  Around 80% of UV rays are still present on cloudy days.  Besides, you know that sun won’t stay behind the clouds all day – not at your favorite beach spot!

Something most folks never think of before putting on those tankini swimming suits for women and heading out on that jet-ski – lip balm.  Make sure you apply lip balm of SPF 15 before you head out for a day in the sun. If you’re on a tropical vacation – use a higher SPF.
